We haven't done this for quite sometime.   This is a special wine & hike adventure not to be missed.

A moderate 7 mile trek to 1170 ft.  Great Southern Napa valley views. Beautiful shaded forest of mixed trees, Manzanitas, Madrones, Oaks, & the farthest Eastern grove of Ca. coastal redwoods.  Verdant valleys, bridges, fern lined trails along creeks, a waterfall, large log walk, & more.

Lunch takes us to a private island & hidden lake location.  Wine comes with your lunch here.  Relaxed views across the water while we are eating .   Then on to more scenic views & on to the castle grounds.   Crossing the Moat & drawbridge, we enter this authentic Tuscan style castle .  Much of it comes from Italy.  The rest made by craftsman.  No cement used in the 15 year building process.  And yes there is a Dungeon & Torture room.

Whinners will be tossed down there.  After a short outside & inside tour we will settle in our own private wine tasting room.  All of the wine can only be purchased at the castle. (No stores or other wineries)

****This is not your ordinary day hike in the countryside.

9:30 am meet time.   Shuttle to parking & trailhead & bathrooms.

10:05 am. leave on hike.

Late lunch at private island & lake location at approx. 2:15 pm.

3:00 pm leave for  vineyard crest view & castle entry.

3:15 pm. Get entry tkts & bathroom stop.

3:30-45  pm.  Wine tasting in castle & in private room if available. (depends on size of group)

5:30 pm. Some may leave & some will stay till 6;00 pm close.

6:00 pm.  After event dinner option.  (TBA)

**Cost & What you get:  carpooling & shuttle,  paid parking fees, a great hike, great people, Water, Juice, Tea, Energy drinks, Snacks, Gourmet fruit & Nut packs, Trail Bars, Soda, hiking poles, & WINE w/lunch. (You bring your own lunch)  25.00

The castle entry tour & wine tasting is 18.00. (Optional)  But well worth it.  NOTE:  You can pay 20.00 - 30.00 or more  in Napa County for just one winery tasting stop.

NOTE:  You may wish to bring after hike shoes for the castle.(comfortable)

This is a great value for a long one day mini vacation.

Bring good hiking shoes, camera, layered clothes as we will be under shade about 75 % of the time.

You are so lucky to be able to be there.

Just awesome as usual !!! After our laakeside wine picnic; and private castle tour & wine tasting, they all ran wild & amok down in the Dungeon area & pillaged the Torture Chamber.
The place closed at 6:00 pm. but we still were wandering and hiding out until 6:45 pm.
We easily hid from the Castle Guards. It's a huge place!!!!!!!!!!

Next trip here will be on Oct. 13th.

Only a fool would miss it this time !!!!!!!!!!!!So sez "MR. T".
