Post-Thanksgiving...Thanksgiving #2! (Kid-friendly)

  • Cathy Pearson's house

This was a great, intimate way to get to know people within SP-DA. Let's do it again! This time, there's a slight twist. Instead of bringing a traditional turkey, bring a turkey dish. Instead of ham, a ham dish, etc. For SP-DA newbies, my house is great for entertaining kids-there's a lower level for them, and the main level is for us to mingle, make new friends, and enjoy great food. Bring a dish to pass (like one listed above, and do NOT forget desserts!), and your beverage of choice, and most of all...bring a smile. You're about to make some good friends! Hope to see you!

A huge thank you to the small, but very fun and caring group that showed up last night. Great food, sweet company, and an amazing clean-up crew made the night fun! Playing Taboo was a blast, and I would love to do it again. If anything, perhaps the smaller number was a blessing-it gave people a chance to open up that may not have. Thanks again! :)

I had a really good time, thanks for having us. I had some really nice conversations... I would like to do it again sometime, this was the 3rd SP DA event I have attended in about 2 years... after meeting some of you last night I think I should do it more often :)

Hi Cathy, what do u need and what would u like?

    November 30, 2013

    • Cathy P.

Donna-at this point, there is a lot to choose from. We have a salad (Tricia) and sandwiches (Adam), along with Beata's sauerkraut. I have pumpkin cake squares. At this point I guess we would need desserts other than pumpkin, a main dish or two (turkey or not), appetizers, etc. Of course, bring whatever you would like to drink. Thanks for asking!

      November 30, 2013

  • Beata

I think i already said but again: im bringing honemade Polish style sourkraut with kielbasa/bacon (warning: little onions inside too!), and salad. Anything you need Cathy - just let me know.

The time is fast approaching! Can't wait! Just a few things to clear up before we get started...
    1. For those who have not been here before, you are most welcome! Please come in, go downstairs to the lower level to put your coat away, (where the kids will be). Then come on back upstairs to get a plate and socialize.
    2. For those with kids, I will have 2 videos, coloring, and drawing supplies available. If the kids (included MINE, LOL!) want to come upstairs, that's fine, but they're not playing upstairs with us. This is our turf! ;)
    3. I still have not heard from a lot of people as to what they are bringing. It does not have to be Thanksgiving related, at this point. Who knows-maybe people are tired of turkey already!? :) So, at this time, let me know what you're bringing.
    4. There is a porch outside for keeping beverages cool, as well as space in my fridge.
    5. Last, but not least, please update your RSVP. Much thanks for those that have done so, and I hope to meet you soon! :)

Hi, I don't cook… I guess I'm bringing drinks, let me know if you have any preference and i will pick it up on my way there.

      November 30, 2013

    • Cathy P.

Ivan, you can just bring what you would like to drink. Could you pick up something like a fruit/veggie tray? It doesn't need to be cooked to be good! :)

Hi all! So far we have a sandwich dish for the kiddos (thanks Adam), and yummy pumpkin bars from Ken! :) Good start-now let's keep going! We need some kind of appetizers, along with turkey, potato, and salads. Any ideas?

Also, I really appreciate the promptness with which people are updating their RSVP's. We have a long waiting list, so keep those up to date. Thank you! :) See you all SOON!

Our plans have changed for thanksgiving. We are going to be out of town. Have a great time.

  • Cathy P.

The time is flying! This time next week y'all will be here. I'm really looking forward to it!

Let's start posting about what people are bringing. If you are bringing kids along, you may want to think of what they would like to eat or drink. I think I'll have a sandwich bar-that seems to work well for them.

A turkey dish? A ham dish? A potato dish? Let's make this fun! See you soon!

    November 23, 2013

    • Adam L.

I can bring a sandwich dish. Cathy I will need use of your oven to warm them up. Will that be OK?

      November 24, 2013

    • Cathy P.

Of course, Adam. That's great. Thank you! :)

      November 24, 2013

  • Ken

I'll bring pumpkin pie, and maybe frosted pumpkin bars as well. Thanks to Cathy and Nadia for hosting.
