I was so looking forward to coming tonight but my sitter cancelled at this last minute. So sorry that I can not come!

    January 20, 2014

  • Kathy

For those joining us for the first time: we'll order pizza (typically Glass Nickle) and split the cost. Bring your own drink. Rick brings a fabulous dessert. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

In case anyone is curious, I did make the molasses cake from the recipe in the book. Since it is a small cake for a large group, I will also be bringing a french silk pie.

I was wondering if you were going to do that Rick. Excellent move.

Lucky me. Picked up the stomach flu over the weekend. I'll be sitting this one out. Have fun

Unfortunately, I need to cancel since I could not finish reading the book. I got too caught up in Goldfinch which took longer to complete than I anticipated (and was unputdownable). Will join next time for The Lord of The Flies :).

    January 19, 2014

    • Sue

Yes...it happens to me often! I still go. Then either start, finish or forget about the book based on discussion. Just know that all are welcome whether you have read it or not. No judging! :) Based on your comment abiut Goldfinch, I may have to look into it. Whi doesn't love an unputdownable book!

Sorry for typos...I can't seem to edit my comments.

I have read the book and would love to attend, but I have a prior obligation. What are you reading next?

    January 15, 2014

    • Mark K

Sandy, The next book club meeting is February 17th and the book is Lord of the flies. Please join us.

I didn't know this was the next book. I just watched the old 1963 movie of this book about 3 weeks ago.

I won't be able to come. My job hours have changed during this time period. Hopefully I can find something earlier in the day.

Kitchen House: Amazon has used copies for $2.99 and you could try Frugal Muse or Half Priced Books

I just returned my book to the library.

Took mine in two days ago. The Library has about 27 copies, not counting Large Print or CD versions. The hold list is much shorter than it was. Only 34 active holds. Anyone who got on their list in December should be getting the book.

I have the book finally and am reading it. I might not be able to stay long. Another obligation.

Found this on Good Reads, for those of you who read Great Gatsby last year, might be of interest.

Got the book tonight and hopefully will have it finished in a day or two - so that should free up another copy. Looking forward to seeing everyone this month.

    January 4, 2014

  • Beth

I am almost finished with the book so another copy will be available soon

Can I come even though I haven't had a chance to read the book? I'd like to join this cool group.

    December 26, 2013

    • Sue

I'd like to get the book. Either it's very popular or the library system has very few copies...been on waitlist a long time.

      January 2, 2014

    • Sue C.

I don't want to buy a copy and ditto to Sue's comment.

I would love to come. I have not been to any events yet but would like to come and meet the group. I just started reading the book.

This book has been the toughest one yet to get from the Library. I spent over 3 weeks on the hold list. Then when I checked it out, it gave me only 2 weeks, not 4. With no option to renew as the current hold list for it is long.

I'd like to attend. I love to read but not sure how this works. Do we read a part of the book and then discuss that chapter or the whole book and talk about that. I've never done this before. I also have to be to work by 9:30pm.

    1 · December 15, 2013

    • Linda Z.

Great. Is there a book list? How do I know what book is being read? I'm a newbie.

      December 16, 2013

    • Beth

We do have a Book List that we just came up with so it isn't printed up yet. You can get the list once we add you to the email list. So come to the next meeting and we can add you. We usually break up around 9-9:30.
