About two years ago we had alot of SP-DA at a Cha-Cha class and it was a blast. If you notice some of the men that can move it (and you never thought they would), they started here!!
The ballroom style of dancing the cha-cha-chá comes from dance teacher Monsieur Pierre. Pierre visited Cuba in 1952 to find out how and what Cubans were dancing at the time. He brought this dance idea to England and eventually created what is now known as ballroom cha-cha-cha.
This is one of the most common and versatile dance styles and a great Latin / Rhythm style to start with as it works great with a variety of music from Ballroom classics to Disco to Carlos Santana! Try these for starters:
Michael Jackson Billie Jean,
Sheryl Crow Soak Up The Sun
John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John Summer Nights
Poncho Sanchez Watermelon Man
Katy Perry Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)
This series is for 4 weeks. This is a beginner series but no new students after the second week (8/12) unless you have Cha Cha experience (International syle is OK) . This is one dance style for which you must have proper shoes. No street shoes. If you have questions about shoes, look in the Discussions section.
This class is run by Tempo Ballroom and Latin dance studio and there is a $10 a class charge or you can purchase a 10 class pass for $85 .
Please RSVP for all the sessions so we can attempt to maintain balance or better yet, grab a partner (and bring two friends)!! Please keep your RSVPs up to date, I'm marking out the no shows...
