Bonfire - Beverages & Snacks...

Last sentence has been added...

Now the evenings are getting a little cooler, I'd love to host a bonfire for SP-DA members. Please bring beverages and a dish/snacks to set on the table. I live in the Hilldale neighborhood of Madison. We'll light the bonfire(s) in my back yard.

Regarding kids...

I wouldn't exactly consider this event kid "friendly" but it is certainly ok to bring kids.  (It is the weekend and we all need a little adult conversation!)  My kids will not be there and they are older so I don't have "toys" to entertain your little one!

I've also moved the time forward to 6:30pm to accommodate those that might have real little ones.

Finally, I'd like to cap the attendance at about 50 adults... just to make sure we can all get our "tushies" warmed by the fire!

Please bring a folding chair if you think you might need to sit for a while and any smore ingredients would be appreciated... just stuff you might already have in the cupboard!

Thanks for hosting, Chris. Wish I could have stayed longer. I was going to bring my kids, but they wanted to do something else, and were getting home at 8:30 pm. They were jealous when I said there was a trampoline at your house, though! Next time maybe they'll come...

Chris, do you need any wood? If so, Kevin S. can bring some. Please let either him or me know.

  • Tim

Will there be music? I have an old boombox I could bring for tuning in the radio.

Tomorrow I let the neighbors know that we will be keeping them awake!

I am close to a corner which does reduce the available parking but it is a residential street... park on either side. Park a couple of blocks away and enjoy the walk! It's gonna be awesome!

Here's another element for folks to consider...
In an effort to reduce drinking/driving... if anyone wishes to sleep over... (a grown-up sleepover - how cool is that?)... feel free to bring a pillow/sleeping bag/pad/toothbrush etc... no jammies allowed... just kidding ;) I have tons of room in the finished basement.

    Hey Ken et.al.
    Great question!
I would like to keep it as much outside as possible. I would suggest folks dress in layers. (Gloves are great for holding a cold beer! ;)
Folks should be bringing food/snacks which will (likely) be in the screened in porch.

    October 2, 2011

  • Ken

Chris, will this be all outside, or both inside-outside? Just trying to decide how warm to dress. Thanks.

    October 2, 2011

  • Susan

Chris, I do understand and we'll just see how this all turns out! Peace, Susan

    October 2, 2011

  • Optimistic C.

    Hey Susan,
At this point, I am going to hold true to the "wait list"... I suspect that there will be some changes in RSVP during the next several days.

  • Susan

Chris, I did see that you wanted to keep the attendance for this event at 50 people but saw that I can be on the waitlist so let me know if you would mind 1 more person sttending. I have not been to a event for your group in quite a while. Thanks, Susan

    October 1, 2011

  • Tim

Not sure, but add me to the list. I got a ticket there once lol.

Is Rosendale STILL the speed trap it was many years ago?

    October 1, 2011

  • Optimistic C.

    But slow down through Rosendale!

    September 30, 2011

  • Katherine

And of course, by "speed", you mean drive very carefully and don't go too fast.

    September 30, 2011

  • Optimistic C.

    SPEED Katherine... speed! LOL
Drive carefully and we'll still be partying when you arrive.

Optimistic Chris ... How do I add +2 guest to my name in the wait list? The additional two are my children.

Any chance for a waiting list? I think I'll be able to make it. Not going to the Harvest Moon Fest

    September 26, 2011

Just look for and follow the orange glow in the sky Sue!

I fess up too! Not sure how it happened but I am double booked as well. Now that I know where Chris lives and how to get there I think I will try to navigate my way back!

    September 26, 2011

  • christine

i would really like to come to this however i don't have a way to get there. would someone be willing to pick me up? i live on the east side of town

It will be more fun too!

OK, I'll admit that I'm one of those people who double-booked with the Harvest Moon Festival. I was originally on the waiting list for that, so signed up for this meetup. I will change my RVSP for Harvest Moon to no, since I have my kids and it doesn't look like anyone from the Midlife group will be bringing kids. Plus, Chris's event is free :)

    September 26, 2011

  • Optimistic C.

If you are interested... put your name on the list... There are certain to be folks who "drop out" and there are still some who are double booked with with the Harvest Moon Festival. Put you name down!
