Announcing a new Meetup for Single Parents - Divorced Adults Group!

What: Bonfire & Cookout at Donald Park

When: October 10,[masked]:00 PM

Donald Park
1870 Sutter Road
Mount Horeb, WI 53572

With the leaves changing and the weather turning cooler, nothing says fall like a bonfire! Please join us for an afternoon of outdoor fun, including a campfire and potluck-style cookout at Donald Park.

(NOTE: A few of us had originally talked about doing this at Stewart Lake, in Mt. Horeb. According to the Dane County Parks director, however, Stewart Park is under significant renovations, so he recommended Donald Park instead. He said it is very scenic, with several fire pits and a number of nice hiking trails.)

Donald Park is located in the Town of Springdale along two trout streams, Deer Creek and Frye Feeder, southeast of Mt. Horeb off Highway 92, just west of Mt. Vernon. The Donald/Woodburn family donated the original 105 acres for this park. The park has since grown to encompass 480 acres containing oak woods, intriguing rock outcroppings with scenic vistas and springs. Donald Park is also known for its trout streams; Deer Creek and Frye Feeder, and Mt. Vernon Creek. There is a small picnic area called Pop's Knoll developed through a generous donation from the Woodburn family and the efforts of the Friends of Donald Park. Hiking trails are open and equestrian trails are under construction.

We will meet at the Pop's Knoll picnic area. Please bring meat to cook, your own beverages and a dish to share.

Plates, plasticware and napkins will be provided.

If you have a small portable grill, you may want to bring it along.

We also need to bring some firewood & kindling. Local wood is preferred. Please let me know if you can help with that.

If the weather decides not to cooperate, the event will be canceled. If I decide to cancel I will be sure to send a email that morning.

I hope to see many of you there!
