What is the legal age for a child not to go to the other parents home?

Happy new year to everyone!

I'm not sure if I'm asking the the question the proper way or not. I have heard the age is 12 when if the child does not want to go the the other parent's home visit they do not have to or forced to go. If any one has knowledge or experience about visitation/placement matters would be greatly appreciated

Your custody papers would need to stipulate that unless the parents informally agree. My older daughter spent every summer with her father in another state from the time she was 5 until around age 16 when she wanted to get a job and he agreed but then she spent Xmas and spring breaks with him.
