Bush walk at Werribee Gorge &dinner after at Glengala Hotel, Sunshine

Check out the driving instructions as getting from the freeway to the park can be a bit confusing.
https://www.google.com.au/maps/dir/Melbourne+VIC/Ingliston+VIC+3342/@-37.650955,144.3721392,15z/am=t/data=!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x6ad646b5d2ba4df7:0x4045675218ccd90!2m2!1d144.96328!2d-37.814107!1m5!1m1!1s0x6ad6bed50a56fbc1:0xf0579a51442d4c0!2m2!1d144.349185!2d-37.65698

Bring you your own rain coat, water and snacks and I suggest a change of clothes for after for drive home or coming to pub for dinner.
Meet at 1pm Meikles Point Picnic Ground and walk along the old aqueduct track (easy) then climb around rocks at a few points to continue on past Needles Beach to Blackwood Pool (see park note pdf for map of walk)
It's a bit tricky to estimate time but I am thinking about 3hours for the walk if we stop halfway and have a snack, chat & relax.
Have lunch before you come OR have lunch before the start time of 1pm at the picnic ground.

Still planning to go for walk 30% chance of showers of 0-2mm. I know its winter but once you get walking, you soon warm up and its very pretty walking along the gorge.

Booking for 5.30 at  Glengala Hotel, Glengala road in Sunshine - under Anita. Please let me know if you would like to go to dinner by 1pm Saturday. Even if you aren't doing the walk, you may be interested in coming for dinner.

Sorry didn't make it this time. If next time you organize again and we are free that time we will definitely go.

Thanks Anita for arranging this walk. I was on the verge of not coming and hibernating inside (and I even had a pretty good reason - jet lag) but I went anyway and was so glad I did. It was a great choice of walk and lovely to be outside - great weather for this time of year...... Plus the lovely company, of course!

More bush walks are the go - so cheap and so fun! I'll arrange one at Mount Macedon sometime followed by tea at the cafe at the top.... And I remember someone saying that there's a great walk at King Lake too. And the cliff walk at Anglesea....and....and.... :)

Ah this I embarrassing not sure if you have had this as a excuse. But I have locked myself out of my house. Good news is I had my phone to google a locksmith. Bad news is $150 bucks. Good news is I learnt a valuable lesson. Bad news no money for tonight. Good news is I am sure I will see you all again.

Hi Anita it's rainy here and we will have to miss the gorge but we will still go to dinner at Glengala.

    July 26, 2014

  • Karyn

Hi Denise. What's your thinking on tomorrow? At this stage it says there might be some showers....... Also, would the rain today affect the track, make the rocks slippery? I've never been there which is why I'm asking the question.

I'm vacillating at the moment and will update when I decide. I'm not sure I will have Jett but still might come on my own. Also Sunshine is almost 40kms from the walk and is in the wrong direction for me too, which is a consideration. I would have suggested Melton - it has many good places with play areas - but I've been away. Anyway, hopefully see you there.

I'm coming on my own. See you there.....

Sounds great fun. For the rock bits can we rendezvous with the group if some kids can't scale the rock? Or can we lift up pram at difficult stage?
