What could be finer on a spring afternoon than a glass of wine with friends?
We are cancelling the walk at Theler Wetlands due to weather - those boardwalks will be slick after all of this rain!
But do join us at the Mosquito Fleet Winery. They are opening just for us, so if you can work this into your schedule this afternoon (and you aren't already signed up), please stop by! It's a family affair, with the first bottles appearing in 2008. This is hand-crafted wine at its best, as Mosquito Fleet uses practices such as manually removing seeds during the fermentation process to reduce the tannins in its Bordeaux-style wines that include syrahs, petit verdons and cabernets. (Those of you who get "red wine headaches" will appreciate this!) They also hand-stir each barrel monthly (a process called batonnage) to increase the "mouth feel" of their products. There is a $10 wine tasting fee -- what a bargain!
The address is 21 NE Old Belfair Hwy, Belfair, WA.
