It's time to get out there and enjoy a light hike! We'll be taking a closer look at the new North Kitsap Heritage Park, which has several trails that criss cross through old growth timber, a wetlands (with boardwalk) and previously disturbed soil, lending itself to quite a few wildflowers.
When we walked this last year, we did the circular loop that starts at the parking lot and goes clockwise along the Ravine Run Trail, connecting to the Spine Line Trail and then the Boundary Trail. It's roughly two miles and relatively flat, a great warm-up for longer trails this summer.
Dogs on leash are welcome. There are no restroom facilities.
After the walk, we'll caravan over to Suquamish and Bella Luna Pizza for lunch.
NOTE: in case of inclement weather, we will skip the walk and meet at the Suquamish Museum at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at Bella Luna. So plan to do a Boomer activity come rain or shine! Watch the site for updates.
Directions: The main entrance to the North Kitsap Heritage Park is located on the east side of Miller Bay Road about a mile north of Indianola Road, and the same distance south of West Kingston Road. The parking area at the Miller Bay Road entrance is open for limited parking.
Bella Luna Pizza is located at 18408 Angeline Avenue, Suquamish. If we are meeting at the museum due to bad weather, you can find it at 6861 NE South Street, Suquamish. $5 entrance fee.
