$1 birthday fund?

There has been interest in birthday celebrations. Would you be willing to put in $1 to buy dessert for everyone in attendance? A birthday cake and fresh fruit could be bought.

Any musicians or music lovers among us?

At a recent meetup, interest arose to get some musicians together to entertain others. We already have a pianist and flutist plus practice site. If you play an instrument (nix on the kazoos), or like to sing, let me know. Skill level doesn't matter, having fun does. A holiday gathering is in the works now.

Who would like to "make a splash" by setting up a meetup to fly kites off the back of a ferry?

I was on a ferry coming back from Seattle yesterday, and another passenger who knew one of the ferry workers asked them if it was OK to fly kites off of a moving ferry. The worker checked with the captain, and he said that was fine. I imagine it would be limited to the "fast run" times in open water, and wind velocity and direction pre-planning would also help to improve kite performance. We could plan to "do" lunch within walking distance of the ferry, and head back to fly a second round. If we get enough participants, and maybe some that know how to fly acrobatic kites, we might make the paper.
