RESCHEDULED: Bike Ride from New Paltz!!

  • September 2, 2013 · 10:00 AM

RIDE CANCELLED. New Paltz to be avoided. We shall still dine later, location TBD.

We will start in New Paltz at the big municipal lot near the historic district and head north on the rail trail. The lot address is 71 Huguenot Street, New Paltz.

We will get to experience the newly opened trestle in Rosendale and see how far beyond that we go. We will dine in New Paltz on our return. I do not know about renting bikes. Please carry your own repair kit just in case and plenty of water and snacks.

Please send me your cell, I'll return with mine. Please NO TEXTS. Rain cancels. $2 Meetup fee unless it's your first time or you are over 50 events with my groups (OCOS or NAK), in which case you are free. :-)

We have a reservation at Brothers Trattoria in Beacon at 4pm. I'd like to walk the rail trail next to the Beacon train station before that. We could start at 2pm. Who is interested? I see blue sky above me here, the storms are over for this area from what I can see. :-)

    September 2, 2013

    • June

      I'm in for both!

      September 2, 2013

    • Sheryl

Yeah!!!! The rail trail starts from the river side of the train station. Keep going past the regular entrance for the station, to the next right, go over the tracks and down. We will meet at the right side of the lot if you're facing the tracks. :-) Bring an umbrella/jacket just in case.

Sky just opened up and its pouring down here in Harriman. Needless to say ( but I'll say it anyway) I'll pass on today's activities. Thanks Sheryl for your efforts. Another time soon I hope.

    September 2, 2013

  • Sheryl

Who is 100% for the ride? I don't want to fuss with the bike if I'm the only one interested.....thanks!!

    September 2, 2013

    • Susy

I'll be there, I just hope the thruway isn't backed up. It's probably the quickest way for me to go.

      September 2, 2013

    • Susy

It just started to rain and thunder by me, how about by you guys? Is there a plan B?

      September 2, 2013

  • Paul

Sheryl, Raining in Walden and I am assuming trail is dirt so will be mud city. I am going to pass on this one.

    September 2, 2013

  • Cathy M

Doesn't look good from my window. Guess I'm just a wimp but 90. % humidity and chance of getting soaked not too apealing. Catch u next tiime.

  • John S

I have pouring rain and thunder here in Vernon.. not going to make this one...

    September 2, 2013

  • Sharon

i just heard thunder....boom....just to let you know

    September 2, 2013

  • Sheryl

Or a 2 hour ride, dine, then the fair, some may not want to fair..... :-)

    September 2, 2013

  • Sheryl

The weather looks good until about noon. How about a 2 hour ride, then carpool over to the craft fair, then dine? That's my brilliant thought for this morning. I'll see whomever likes my idea at 10!! :-)

    September 2, 2013

  • John S

let us hope the weather holds out!!

    September 1, 2013

  • Sheryl

The weather is still questionable for tomorrow. My bike is off the garage ceiling but the tires are flat. I imagine they can be pumped up easily but will face that task in the morning. Be forewarned, TRAFFIC IN NEW PALTZ IS BAD DUE TO THE FAIR. Our dinner reservation is for +/- 3pm for tomorrow. The craft fair is 10-4 just in case we need plan B or C. For more info on the fair go to quailhollow.com. You can print a $1 off coupon. Admission is $8. That's all from my world to yours for tonight....I will check the weather around +/- 6am and update as necessary. Good night!!!

    September 1, 2013

  • Debi

Craft fair is 10-4. I went today it was nice. I maybe in for eating when time is posted.

    September 1, 2013

  • Pat(ricia)

    Im in for Plan B!
    Thank You

    September 1, 2013

  • Sheryl

    Hi Friends,
I am also wondering about the weather for tomorrow....I am very happy going for a walk on the rail trail if at all possible with the aid of umbrellas, jackets, or bathing suits (!), but unless the rains that are forecasted don't come, the trail will be muddy and I personally don't want that mud line up my back...so, stay tuned and let's see what happens. I'm still game to gather, eat, and possibly do the arts & crafts fair if it's still on tomorrow. It's a great fair and I need the final Max gift from him to me. :-)

I am going to cancel if weather is bad. It is an hour drive and would be fine if weather is good. Sorry but thanks for all your work planning. Hopefully we can schedule this again in the fall

    August 29, 2013

  • Debi

You may already know that this weekend is the craft fair, it could take a while to arrive if you are coming thru town. The traffic is usually backed up passed the thruway. There is a back way in from gardener. Unable to attend have a nice ride.

    August 29, 2013

    • Sheryl

      Thanks for the heads-up!! :-)

    August 26, 2013

  • John S

Nobody could ever hate you!!! Things happen. Unfortunately, I cannot make it if you change to Monday. I'll probably do the ride anyway.

    August 26, 2013

  • Bill M.

I'm a question mark for Monday.

    August 26, 2013

  • Ronni

I may not make it on Monday...leaving next day for 10 days.
However, it does not matter as I can substitute a golf game on Sat.
    Thanks,
    Ron

  • Debbie G.

This is a paved trail, correct? I heard that one of the trails over there is a packed dirt one?? Please advise:

    August 26, 2013

  • Mary

Hi, I was wondering if you knew the approximate mileage of the ride. Also wondering about the terrain...is it hilly? rolling? flat? Always wanted to go to New Paltz.

    August 25, 2013

    • Sheryl

We will go from New Paltz at least to Rosendale and back, maybe more depending on the group. Terrain is flat. It is roughly 7-8 miles each way. :-)

      August 25, 2013

  • mona

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
