Let's enjoy a wonderful Saturday afternoon walk and then visit the Basha Kill Winery and Vineyards. We will walk for roughly 2-3 hours depending on the group, the walking and the weather.
The Bashakill is an old railroad bed which is a great unpaved wilderness walk. It is flat and straight along the bank of the Bashakill itself, a wonderful body of water that changes with the seasons. You will be happy with your hiking boots, the path may have muddy sections but sneakers will be fine too. This is perfect for beginners or those that enjoy a non-strenuous hike but love to see lots of nature stuff.
When we have had enough we will go across the street to the winery for a wine tasting. The tasting is free. We will bring yummy food to share while we are at the winery. Please bring something easy to share, finger food or appetizers will work well. The winery has live music from 2-6pm.
Dogs welcome. For winery info go to www.bashakillvineyards.com
Directions: Take exit 113 off rt 17, get off the ramp and go south on rt 209 for about 2 miles. Make a left on Haven road (blue BashaKill sign on Rt. 209) and go past some houses, pass a parking lot on the left and go over a one lane bridge. Just ahead on the left is a 'road' which leads in to the parking lot where we will not start our walk. UPDATE: Do not turn in here. Keep going straight, the road comes to a T. Go right, and go about 2 miles to the winery. Do not park at the winery but instead go right, into a boat launch parking lot by the Bashakill. :-)
We will meet at the parking lot directly across from the winery. Follow the signs to the winery but go right, into the boat launch parking lot. We will be closer to the winery for the after fun. It is about 2 miles from the Haven Road parking lot.
