Calling all ducks!! Calling all ducks!! Due to the wet day for tomorrow let's reschedule this for SUNDAY, same duck time, same duck place. At least it'll be warm!!!! Please change your RSVP if you can't join us. It may be muddy, and spikes are pretty much a must just in case it's icy. Just because some places aren't doesn't mean the rest are safe. :-)
Tired of winter? Bored of snow? Need to get out??? This will be a nice energetic hike, combined with a scavenger hunt to get your mind thinking as well as your body moving!!
Participants should have prior winter hiking experience and if the world is snowy or icy MICROSPIKES or Stabilicers will be mandatory and I will need to see them before we leave. No Yaktrax of any sort. Proper spikes will have roughly 1/4 inch teeth.
Not for beginners or those who don't hike regularly. Winter hiking is a different beast than regular hiking and this will be moderate in difficulty plus the extra winter challenges: cold, wind, and you MUST be properly prepared.
It won't be anything strenuous or overly challenging, but you will need to be properly equipped with snow pants, snow or hiking boots, warm everything else. Camera, water, snacks, and a sense of humor and adventure are good items to pack!!! Please also bring a bag to put your scavenger hunt items in. :-)
We will start at the Bear Mountain Inn, ($8 parking fee) or carpool from Fort Montgomery overflow parking, not the main lot. It will be at least a 4 mile hike, maybe more depending on the hike, the conversation, the weather...no huge ups or downs though.
After the event please DO NOT TOUCH the Good to See You Buttons!!! Remember to change your RSVP if you can't make the event. Please do NOT text me, I will not get it and will not reply. Thanks!!
$2 Meetup fee or free for fist time friends or over 50 events with me. All hikes are at your own risk and you will need to sign a liability waiver to participate. Horrible weather cancels, but it's winter so as long as it's not a blizzard we will go. :-) Please send me your cell if I don't have it, I will return with mine. Cheers and happy trails!!!
