Stewart Buffer Lands Hike or Walk!! :-)

Update!! It looks like many are good with going to Gully's afterwards instead of Union Square. Decision made!! Gully's it will be. :-)

We always do Stewart as Plan B, it's our old standby....let's do it as Plan A this time. This can be a hike in the woods or a walk on the old roads...so you can be surrounded by trees or not. We will make 2 groups and wander off, and come back together for dining at GULLY'S.

Let's get together and explore the old roads that became the buffer lands for Stewart Airport....If you like birds, bring your binoculars and bird book, hopefully lots of opportunity for wildlife!

Stewart State Forest is the area around Stewart Airport, also known as the Stewart Buffer Lands. It is rolling terrain, properly equipped beginners welcome for both the hike or the walk.....no serious anything, just good fresh air, wonderful company and good exercise.

Bring WATER and your sense of adventure, camera, tissues, sunglasses.

Meet at the Ridge Road parking area. It is off Rt. 17K just past Coldenham Rd, follow the link attached. There is an abandoned gas station and a traffic light at this intersection, it's just past Dempsey Pipe if you know the Coldenham area on 17K. I posted the Dempsey Pipe address, we are not meeting there, but it'll get you close.

GPS people, be careful if your GPS wants you to go THROUGH the buffer lands, the roads show up on your GPS but are closed to vehicles. Weed Road and Ridge Road are not through roads. Please look carefully at my directions/map below!!!!!

The map title says Elk Pen but the blue marker is in the right place. It is in the lower left corner when the map first opens up, don't go to the other blue markers, look for Rt. 84 just by the blue marker. :-)

See you there!! :-)After the event please DO NOT TOUCH the Good to See You Buttons!!! Remember to change your RSVP if you can't make the event. Please do NOT text me, I will not get it and will not reply. Thanks!!

Please send me your cell if I don't have it, I will return with mine. All hikes are at your own risk and you will need to sign a liability waiver to participate. $2 Meetup fee unless it's your first event or over 50 events with me, and then it's free. Cheers!!

As it's rained all week, why should tomorrow be any different? Bring a rain jacket or umbrella to ward off the nasty wet stuff. I think we'll be undercover or near undercover if it decides to rain. :-)

Hi Friends, For strange and personal reasons I'm taking the birthday component out of this. I will still appreciate birthday wishes but it's not the reason for this hike. If you can't make it please change your RSVP so the reservation is accurate. My birthday is actually the 28th so you can catch me at Gully's or the Swamp paddle. If the weather forecast gets worse we will still dine at 2. Happy day!!

Hi New People, Your RSVP is extremely important to me. Please change your RSVP if you cannot make it. Newbie no-shows may be deleted from the group. If you sign up, please show up or change your RSVP. I'd love to know who else is not dining. I will take a vote tomorrow to see who wants to dine where, I prefer Gully's if the weather is not raining, I haven't hit the back deck yet and it's calling me, it's faint but there. I'd even eat inside if the threatened thunderstorms are lurking. Not downstairs have you, inside upstairs. :-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
