RESCHEDULED!!!! Minnewaska Hike, location TBDBW...... :-)

Friday Update!! We will meet at the Awosting parking lot. When you go through the gate go RIGHT, not UP the hill......spikes mandatory. We will be just one group and it won't be easy. Winter hiking is more strenuous than all other seasons. No cotton!!!

Admission to Minnewaska is $8 per car unless you have an Empire Pass.

We will do at least 4 miles, up to 7 miles, perhaps done by 2-3, then dine in New Paltz. These estimates are rough! :-) Snow pants, long johns, snowboots w/ spikes, hats, gloves, scarves......bring your warm woolies!!!! :-) Be prepared to shed layers, and have light layers if you get warm. Light gloves, heavy gloves, better to have more than you need and be comfortable. Soggy clothes are no fun :-) Hot tea is a treat on a cold day, just saying. :-)

Spikes MANDATORY and I need to see them before we leave the parking lot. Bring your sense of adventure. :-) We will follow the same trip as last year on March 1.

As winter weather is on the ground you WILL need MicroSpikes or Stabilicers for your boots....it's for your safety and I'll need to see them before we leave the parking lot. YakTrax are not good for the woods, they are fine for an icy parking lot. I have 2 extra pairs of spikes but you need to message me. They are for size 8 womens boots or mens size 9....first request, first spiked. :-)

Microspikes mandatory as well as a flashlight.

Winter hiking is a different beast than normal hiking, you must be prepared for cold, wind, snow and ice. No cotton. Hot tea is wonderful, as are handwarmers with your warm woolies.

$2 Meetup fee unless it's your first or over 50 events with me. I'll need your cell for just in case, but no texts please. All hikes are at your own risk.
