Harriman Hike!!!

  • March 17, 2012 · 10:00 AM

Update!! Hiking boots are mandatory for this hike. Wet rocks, leaves, etc., can make for slippery footing and PROPERLY FITTING hiking boots are a must. Your boots are like the tires on your car, the most important part. Your socks are very important too, cotton is not a great idea, and blisters can make you and everyone else miserable.

This is going to be a great hike!! We will start at Lake Skannatati, near the Kanawauke Circle on Seven Lakes Drive. We will meet in the parking lot, be sure you get the right lake!! For the promised map:

We will do a 5 mile hike +/- depending on the weather, the trail and the group. It should be an easy intermediate hike, no serious stuff but we are approaching from a different location, the group will need to stay somewhat together as it is a large group. As always bring your sense of adventure for unknown trails!!!

We WILL visit the famous Bowling Rocks that is always just beyond our grasp. It is a very cool place. Bring lunch, snacks, water, and all the good hiking stuff including hiking boots (mandatory), bug stuff (ticks...), first aid, a flashlight, poles, hat, sunglasses, bubbles, and (HINT) zip off hiking pants are wonderful things if you are building your hiking wardrobe.

$2 Meetup fee. Light rain won't stop us but heavy stuff will, stay tuned if the forecast is bad. I will update Friday night and Saturday morning if necessary. If I don't have your cell please send it to me and I will return with mine. You never know.....

RAIN DATE will be Sunday the 18th. ALL HIKES ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Cheers!!!

The top 10 reasons why I love hiking...................1. Gets me outside to connect with nature. 2. This particular group of people are the best to hike with!. 3. I get to take a lot of pics althougth it is difficult to take pics of people blowing bubbles and have them look somewhat attractive (although Jim Steck seemed to nail it). 4. Continue to search for flat mountains and do not enjoy being around me when I'm "prickly" but I eventually get past it. 5. BEER. 6. I get to hike with studs like Fernando-Orlando-Riccardo. 7. BEER 8. All the chics want Fernando-Orlando-Riccardo O'Shea. 9. You all have to look at some of my pics. 10. Sheryl leads/plans the best hikes!!! Today was great - thank you Sheryl

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
