St. Patrick's Day is on a Saturday this year!!!
We will be meeting at Flannery's Pub. There we can have a drink or two before heading over to Superior Avenue to watch the parade.
Q: Is the parade going to be too crowded?
A: Since the Browns fell just short of the Super Bowl, this is sure to be the event of the year in Cleveland. It is a very fun and popular event so it will be crowded. Even when the parade isn't on a Saturday, most kids skip school and adults play hookey from work, so it might not be that much more crowded than past years. You are encouraged to use public transportation (RTA) or carpool if possible. Get there early and If you do drive, bring cash because the lots will be charging special event rates.
*Here is the schedule to the RTA if you plan on using it: http://www.riderta.com/schedules/. It also shows you a map as to where you can get on the rappids.
Q: I heard the streets are going to be littered with drunken Irishmen. Is this true?
A: You should never judge anyone by their race or ethnicity. But in this case you can make an exception to that rule, it is true. This year they will be joined by at least one drunken Croatian. It's St. Pat's. Everyone is Irish, everyone is drunk. Remember to drink responsibly and don't drink and drive.
Q: Will there be any leprichans?
A: According to legend, every St. Patrick's Day, a rainbow settles on Superior Avenue. Naturally leprichans will be flocking to the area looking for their pot of gold. If you find a pot of gold, leave it alone. Leprichans will do whatever it takes to get it from you even if it means casting a thousand curses on you. If you have a fear of short mythical elvan creatures, you should consider sitting this one out.
Q: I don't have any green shirts to wear. Will this be a problem?
A: You'd better get yourself a green shirt. It doesn't have to be the nicest shirt. Borrow one or you can get a cheap one at the Goodwill if you want. Failure to wear green means you will be gang tackled and pinched all over by hundreds of angry drunks.
