Holiday Circlefest 2012 updated with full details!

This is the 4th year we have had a Meetup event at Circlefest. Free museums, ice skating, shopping, open houses, horse-carriage rides, snowball fights, and plenty more. It's the ultimate holiday event in Cleveland. Last year we had 40 some people signed up, and it was a blast!

We will meet at 1:15pm and event runs till 6:30pm! Like the last 3 years, we'll go on a pre-determined route to all the highlights of the event and keep a schedule to see as much as possible.

1:15pm - Meet at STARBUCKS at 11302 Euclid Ave. (this is at the corner of Euclid and Cornell. There is also a Charter One Bank inside.) - Once the group has all all arrived and people have had a chance to get a drink and snack, and get to meet everyone, we will begin to hit up Circlefest!

at 1:30pm we will walk over to Cleveland Museum of Art - Picture yourself in works of art using technology; Learn about Chinese ink painting in a demonstration by artist Mitzi Lai; Visit the Art Cart and touch authentic Chinese art objects made from silk, ceramics, and bronze. Enjoy refreshments, and pick up special holiday gifts in the museum store.

2:30 - The Cleveland Botanical Garden - Holiday Shopping in the Garden Store and New and Used Gift Book Sale in the Eleanor Squire Library; 3:00 p.m. – Musical Performance Presented by Cleveland School of the Arts Jazz Quartet.

3:30pm - Museum of Contemporary Art- The MOCA Museum is now open, and it looks really cool to see. this is a new addition to our Circlefest event!

4:15pm - Cleveland Institute of Music - Students from the CIM Young Artist Program and the CIM Preparatory Division (Kulas Hall); Yuling Tubas (Kulas Hall); Intensive String Quartet Seminar Gala Concert (Mixon Hall).

5:00pm - We'll head to Wade Oval, if anyone wants to do horse drawn carriage rides, now is a good time since the crowds have died down a bit. We will also look at some of the ice scalptures that are there.

5:30pm - Light procession on Wade Oval outside the Art Museum.

6:00pm - We will have dinner at Chipotle that is now open. It sisn't that far down from Starbucks, and is a geat place to leave your car so it isn't too far to go to pick up your car.

Members are more than welcome to go off on their own pace but can always hop back on with the group; Places like the Art Museum, Botanical Garden, Institute of Music, MOCA, and much more! Snacks and wine available in all places along the way! At 5pm-ish we will watch the candlelight ceremony. The shedule is subjected to change depending on the day, and what other museums around Wade Oval people want to see. Dress warm. It can get cold walking around, past years have proved this. - never trust our forecast here!

SIGN UP NOW TO GET IN ON THE ACTION! A great event to meet others and have a fun day in the city!

q) are we seriously going to be able to go to all the places on the schedule?

a) we will try our best, it worked the last 2 years, so we'll see if it works again this year. if we are slowed down we will have to removed Botanical Gardens from our schedule. Everything else should go as planned.

q) parking?

a) see above for info. i suggest parking right on euclid ave. or using a parking garage at university hospitals. there'll be other options, so please arrive early and plan ahead to find parking - it's going to be a big event and many people will already be there so parking will be tougher than usual. car pools are also recommended.

It was fun, and it didn't rain the whole time! Too bad some people didn't show, we had a blast!

Is this a family friendly event? Would it be appropriate for a 7 year old ?

Yes, it IS raining out, and to the looks of it, it might be the whole day, but we will try to stay inside most of the day at the museums. That might just through the wade oval stuff. But, not to fear, just bring a hat and umbrella, or whatever is needed go in the rain. As the looks of it, it doesn't seem too cold today, so I think it will work out just fine.

Tomorrow is the big event already folks! try to come a bit early to find parking, as it will be filled with a lot of other people. I'm so excited to have 40+ people signed up, and can't wait to meet all new people and old friends! Don't forget to grab a coffee (Or other choices) at the Starbucks. If you are confused where it is, just call me. It is also a Charter ONe band inside, so not too hard to find. See you all (I hope) tomorrow!

As for taking a kid, we don't have many children that come bet you are always to bring a 7 year old. This meet up is a fun day time event and as long as they would like to come its fine. You can stay as long as you would like (if your child gets tired of walking or something) no one has to stay for the whole thing.

We went there last year and for some reason I get sick when I eat Qdoba food. I just like the taste of Chipotle better for whatever reason. I think they have nachos or small tacos too.

Also, I'm know I'm late to join but does anyone have any interest in Qdoba instead of Chipotle? Qdoba has a much more extensive menu for those that don't just want a burrito or bowl.

The event itself it family friendly. I don't know the rules or how it would work bringing a 7 year old out with THIS group. I don't attend 20/30's group events often but there are never any children with us.

Well join any event you like and I'm sure you will not be the only new person there. As far as I know a little over half the people on this list are new so we always meet and greet before starting any large event. The one big meet and greet event was just in the beg of nov, but I'm sure we'll have another one again sometime.
