The Trinity Site is where the 1st Atomic Bomb was detonated. It's located East of San Antonio, NM on the northern end of White Sands Missile Range, just off Hwy 380. The site is only open to the public twice a year for one day. I've been there a couple of times and it is an interesting place to visit. Usually you enter the Range off Hwy 380 and are directed to a parking lot and then onto busses for a trip to an old ranch (where the device was built) and then on to the site itself. You can walk around the site for as long as you want, then board the busses for the trip back to the parking lot. They have a couple of displays at the site and some historical aritfacts. WARNING, WARNING WILL ROBINSON! Do not pick up anything while at the site. They are watching and it's a federal offense! We'll carpool from Savers and drive the estimated 100 miles to White Sands. Actual hiking distance will be less than a mile, with no elevation gain. NO WHINERS, DOGS, or PACIFIST!This is an EASY hike. Everyone is welcome. For more information ask your questions on this site and I'll try and get an answer. Now is the time for you small car drivers to step forward and volunteer to drive!
