Mandy's Farm is an adult agency that provides residential and day hab services for people with developmental disabilities. They are located on Clark Road, off of 2nd Street SW, at the edge of town south of Rio Bravo. Saturday, April 6th is their annual volunteer day and there are lots of fun projects to get involved with. The farm has an abundance of goats, chickens and a few horses on premises and the residents and staff are delightful! With funding for social services dwindling, they can use help fixing up the livestock areas and with some spring cleaning on the land. The projects are diverse and there's something for everyone... at any level of ability. This promises to be a rewarding opportunity to help a segment of our community that is too often out of mind to some of us. Come join me on Saturday, April 6th for a few hours by rolling up our sleeves and whistling while we work! :-) Just being around the farm will bring a smile to your face for the rest of your day! Wear sloppy clothes and sturdy shoes. Might want to bring some work gloves if you have them. I'll meet you at their white gate at 346 Clark Road SW at 9:00 sharp. I'm planning to stay through the lunch break to help with lunch. If anyone wants to carpool or follow me from the NE heights, I can meet you at the Goodwill parking lot on San Mateo around 8:30. Just let me know in the comment section of the meetup. Hope to see you!<</p>

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it tomorrow so please take my name off the sign-up list. What a great activity though and I've signed up for Mandy's newsletter so that I can be aware of other opportunities!

I should be good to go and will be a rake. If my knees can't handle it, is there anything else I could do?

Cynthia, there are many projects to work on that day. We're sure to have many choices that morning. Just show up dressed for outdoor work and bring a pair of work gloves if you'd like.

Here's the scoop on the tools. "Great, we are grateful to have as many helping hands as we can. We do have some tools, but if the group has gloves, rakes, shovels, leaf blowers, that would all be very helpful as I don't know if we will have enough to go around. We will start at 9am and then break for lunch and entertainment between 12-1. Thank you so much for participating!"

Raylene, this not a 2 day event. Volunteer day is only on Saturday from 9-2. Our Meetup will be from 9-12. Anyone wanting to come or stay later is encouraged to do so on their own. Thanks!
