Takin' It To The Streets - 39+Holding Club's Christmas Project

  • Dec 25, 2013 · 9:00 AM
  • Laura's House

If you want the experience of your life, and want to share the true meaning of Christmas, coupled with the fact that you have no other plans for Christmas Day, then I urge you to come with me.  My daughters and I are having Christmas on Saturday morning, so I've decided to help homeless people on Christmas Day.  I've done this in the past, want to have this as our holiday project, since we have no other Christmas charity event planned, and each year the 39+ Holding club ALWAYS does something for the less fortunate.

If you still have blankets, sleeping bags, or jackets that did not "make it" to the Blanket Collection party, please get them to me at any Meet-up between now and then .

In addition, I'd like to take "lunches" to these people, and I noted that probably 90 % were men, but we saw a few women when we went last weekend.   These lunches will consist of non-perishable items, and I'd like to throw in a pair of warm socks , or a gift of some kind.  If you'd like to help with this project, whether or not you can actually go to the park on Christmas Day,  your kindnesses will be appreciated SO much.  If you want to donate ca$h, socks, or "lunch items" (tuna salad kits, peanut butter n' crackers, cheese n' crackers, jerky, individual fruit with a pop-top lid, Little Debbie type items, individual chip bags, juice boxes- you probably get the idea), then drop them off at my work or home, or ANY Meet-up between now and then.  I will then leave it up to the Powers That Be to sort it out.

Please feel free to ask questions, by e-mail, text, phone, or in person.  May you have a Happy Holiday Season .

With much love to ALL,

XXOO

There will be a lot of full bellies out there for the next few days because of your efforts to give the Homeless a nicer Christmas. I'd like to extend my GIGANTIC thank you, and the thank yous echoed by many of the homeless we met up with yesterday to those of you who had any kind of hand in orchestrating this Meetup. Many of you gave unselfishly of your efforts, your monies, your donations, your sacrifices , your time and your talents, only to walk away with warm fuzzies for helping a bunch of total strangers for Goodness' Sake. You should be applauded.

This sounds so cool, Laura. I so appreciate your selflessness in this and other things you do. I will try to make it depending on what family things are going on. I do have a couple of blankets, too. Will bring them to a meet up soon. Have been very busy with houses and traveling to see kids in CA. Son is leaving Afghanistan tomorrow to come home now for good. So grateful and would like to share my good fortune with others.

Thanks to those of you who commented about my son. He is home now in Texas where he lives with his eight months pregnant wife. So now he will be there for the birth of his first child after all! He wasn't originally due home until April. How blessed we are! I will go visit around the first of February to give them much needed rest that they don't even know now they will need!

What a wonderful gift you are giving to those who have basically, nothing. I can't go with you on the 25th, but will be more than happy to donate items on your list. Where can I bring them? Home or work location? Need address.
