Historic Railroad Tunnels Trail Walk

  • The Weather should be nice, let's see if anyone want to join me for a beautiful easy walk. Please only sign up if you sure/commit to go! Event will be on if six people signed up to go!

    We will meet at Fiesta Henderson (under the big sign out front) for carpool leave at 9:15am. Please give $3-5 dollars for carpool to whoever take you there.

    Hike Time: 3.5 hrs (includes drive)
    Difficulty: 1
    Elevation Gain: negligible
    Trail Type: Dirt, Flat, < 100ft/mile
    Pace: Moderate
    Children: Yes (it's your responsibility make sure they can do this hike)
    Dogs: yes, must remain on a leash

    Socialize with all the walk/hike lovers.

    We will walk to the end of last tunnel and take a break at a small picnic area. From there maybe some of us (optional) will find a way scramble to the hill of Lake Mead Overlook (150ft), we will take some pictures and be right back to the picnic area with everyone else, then take same trail back to the parking lot.

    If you don't want to scramble to the Overlook hill you can stay at the picnic area which you can see all the actions.

    Bring at least 64 oz water

    Small lunch or snack.

    If you meet us at the trail head, here the Directions, we will start walk around 9:30am: South on Highway 93, through Boulder City, to Lakeshore Road. Turn left (north) onto Lakeshore Road and drive north for a few tenths of a mile to the Lake Mead (Alan Bible) Visitor Center turnoff. Pass the turnoff, drive another 0.1 miles, and turn right (southeast) into a large parking area (before the fee area).

    Membership due: $8/six months or $1/event in cash upon arrive.

    Please be aware your Meetup organizers are not tour guides and are not park rangers. Expect the same risks and take the same precautions you would take if you were hiking alone. You are solely responsible for your own safety and well-being.
