Welcome to all who knit and crochet!
Sit n' Knit New York City is a event-based social group dedicated to bringing people from many neighborhoods and backgrounds together to share in their love of sticks and yarn. The goal is to meet several times a month in different venues and spend a couple of hours happily working on a project. Come to one or come to all! We have parties and knitalongs as well as good ol' gatherings to chat and knit. I hope to provide a friendly atmosphere where we can all share in the pleasure of knitting, as well as help each other with a pattern or project, yarn swap, and of course show off your handmade goods. (WE GET IT!)
There are no membership dues. That's right, it's FREE. If you enjoy your time and want to help keep it going, donations for operating costs are accepted but not mandatory. Some events require a fee to cover space rental, but that usually includes food and beverages - details posted on our event page.
We are typically not a teaching group. If you are interested in learning how to knit and/or crochet for the first time, please click
here for a recommendation for where to go for lessons.
Venues will be in Manhattan. Uptown, downtown and anywhere in between. Part of the beauty of this group is that we meet in several different locations on different days of the week. You will typically see "regulars" plus many new faces. I do my best to get to know everyone's names and introduce people, but members should feel free to get talking and get to know their fellow knitters!
