This workshop series is designed to give participants the skills needed to turn good ideas into action, in order to strengthen and grow the social entrepreneurship community in Wellington. Twelve workshops facilitated by highly experienced entrepreneurs and experts in a variety of fields will provide participants with actionable advice, transferable skills and inspiration to develop their visions for community-focused business. Covering everything from testing and pitching ideas through to legal and marketing, this innovative and interactive series will have something of value for anyone interested in starting a business, whether social or otherwise.
Social entrepreneurship uses entrepreneurial principles to organise, create, and manage a venture in order to achieve a desired social change, solve a social problem or strengthen community.

Alex Hannant and Joshua Vial
Alex Hannant is the Executive Director of the Hikurangi Foundation. Before joining Hikurangi, Alex was Director of Programmes at Leadership for Environmental and Development (LEAD) - a global network focused on leadership development and learning for sustainbility. Alex was also the Head of Partnership at the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) - a UK and Dutch Government funded initiative providing technical advice and services on climate compatible development to decision makers in developing countries. In his current role with Hikurangi, he aims to help build and support a culture of green innovation in New Zealand through the development of talent, learning networks and game-changing initiatives.
Joshua Vialis an entrepreneur with a passion for business, technology and social change. He has been running web development businesses since 2003 and is the founder ofEnspiral, a professional services collective that helps launch social enterprises. As well as managing the rapid growth of Enspiral, Joshua is currently hands on helping to launch two social enterprises -Bucky Box which builds software tools for healthier food systems andLoomio, an online tool that helps groups make decisions together. Pitching these ideas to potential investors all require a honed and practiced approach so supporters/investors can support and invest in your idea quickly.

our cancellation policy
If you RSVP for a class and fail to show up, you will get a "no show". Three no shows means you will be removed from chalkle°. You may request to rejoin after six months.
If you cancel your RSVP:
- less than 3 days before = no refund
- after 7pm the night before = no refund and a "no show" will be recorded
