music & performance: advanced ukulele

what we're doing

Welcome, aspiring ukulele players! We'll be learning some advanced ukulele technique from various sources around the interwebs and your dear teacher's brains! All concerning blues technique and some other bits of adventurous meanderings through various other things! Should be a roaring good time!

This will be a restart of the advanced course, so if you'd like to dig in deeper this is the class for you! Come by and check it out, we'll try to go slowly but in much more depth than a normal beginner uke jam!

Brandon knows his stuff. I've found it difficult to find advanced uke groups/classes to learn/play with, and though it seemed there was a lot of emphasis on beginners techniques, it was appropriate for the attendees. Despite this, I came away with a couple of valuable tips, plus I appreciated the quick lesson in how to read tablature, which I've always found difficult. It must be difficult teaching a class to people of varied abilities and skill levels. May i suggest that you get this to work for you by asking attendees what skills they might be able to share with others...so the first half of the hour, you can do group work, then split off to smaller groups with a lead player sharing their skill - strum patterns, fingerstyles, how to read tabs, etc so it frees you up to do whatever you need. Just a suggestion, hope you dont mind! I will be back, thanks for organising!

I'd really like to attend this but I've not been to a beginner's class. I've been playing the uke for a while and I run an Open Mic Uke Night once a month here in Wellies. If I come to the beginner's class just before this one, can I come to this?

Sure you will be, it's just going to be an in-depth class, and we'll have a beginner's course beforehand to get you up to speed. :)
