Evolution Lecture and Darwin Exhibit

Join us at the St. Louis Science Center to kick of the Life Science Lab's "Evolution in Action" speaker series with a lecture by evolutionary biologist Kenneth Olsen (Washington University, Missouri Botanical Gardens). After the lecture we will explore the the American Museum of Natural History's fine exhibit on the life and science of Charles Darwin which will temporarily be at the SLSC.

Enjoyed the info on cyanide and clover. Very interesting stuff! The Darwin exhibit: great visuals, great information, too many facsimiles, but otherwise, neat to see!

Dr. Olsen gave an excellent talk. He started with a nice Evolution background and worked his way into a very interesting presentation of the data from his lab and other. It fit in well with the Darwin exhibit.

The Darwin Exhibit was okay, but the Evolution Lecture was really good! I liked how interactive it was - people had lots of questions and I learned so much about how evolutionary biology corresponds with climate change.

Kenneth Olsen did a very good job at the topic of "Cyanide and Natural Selection at work in your lawn." The concepts presented were clearly done and the relationships of the concepts were well explained. Too often the concepts at these lectures end up in being short of clarity or fail to show the cause and effect relations. Olsen did good at both of these.

Dr. Olsen was able to take complex ideas and translate them into understandable terms. Glad I went... the ride home with hail and sideways rain was harrowing, but I'm still glad I went!
