Ethics in Action: Clean Transitional Housing Apartments

  • July 26, 2014 · 8:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

There are few resources for victims of domestic violence in St Louis, and the resources that do exist are often overwhelmed with need. Here's where we can help - by cleaning out apartments, we can reduce the wait time between occupants.

We will be meeting in the rear of the parking lot of the Ethical Society and then carpooling to the service location. Don't be late! We'd hate to have to leave without you. (Actual time spent on location is 9am - 12 noon. Note: if you've been there before, you may meet us there at 9am.)

Volunteer Requirements:

• Signed confidentiality agreements for all participants (to be provided)

• Work Gloves and/or latex gloves for cleaning

• Closed-toed shoes

• Weather and/or work appropriate clothing

• Re-useable water bottles

Any donation of cleaning products and/or household goods for the women is greatly appreciated (see list of suggested items)

Refrain from wearing group t-shirts, or other clothing items identifying who you are while working.  Depending on projects and weather, we might be working outside on grounds.  Identifying clothing may attract attention by passersby, impacting the safety of the residents. There is no specific lower age limit, but this event is not well-suited for children under age 12 as there may be a lot of physical labor involved. No photography.

Please only RSVP with one group so I can get an accurate head count. Feel free to message me with any questions. Safety First! And have fun. :)

Ethics in Action is a volunteer brigade of the St Louis Coalition of Reason.

This sounds really cool, but sadly I can't make it. If it happens again hopefully I can help then.

Possibly one or two more. If Erica and our 12 year old are free, should I bring the 12 year old, or is this adults only. Thanks!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
