Announcing a new Meetup for The Skeptical Society of St. Louis!

What: Science Cafe: "Herbal Medicines and Botanical Dietary Supplements"

When: May 21,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: OK so this is super last minute, It is tomorrow. The Science Center screwed up on the date and said it was next week. I am planning to go so I figured I would set it up as a Meetup if anyone would like to join me. Science Cafe time again and I think this one might be of interest to those who take a scientifically skeptical view of the claims of "alternative medicine" which are often not supported by evidence. The topic is "Herbal Medicines and Botanical Dietary Supplements: Facts and Fiction" presented by Dr. Wendy Applequist, Assistant Curator of Economic Botany, Missouri Botanical Garden will discuss the facts of traditional and modern herbal medicine and why there's so much misinformation about herbal products. Maybe she will present us with the scientific perspective, I don't know.

Science Cafe is a great forum for the discussion of scientific issues of all kinds and is free, casual, and usually quite interesting.

Please note that this Month it is at Llywelyn's Pub, located at 4747 McPherson Ave and not Herbies. I don't know what the seating is like but please try to be there close to on-time so I can save some seats together.
I am sure we will stay for drinks and further discussion after the lecture.
