Bring a snack and join other readers on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM for CFI-West's Book Club for Skeptics. Visitors welcome! Heck, you don't even have to have read the book to join in the conversation!

November's selection: REGENESIS by George M. Church & Ed Regis

We should be in the upstairs meeting room, but if not, there will be a sign when you come in the door from the parking lot to guide you.

**Many more folks show up for Book Club than you will see RSVP'd here, so please don't hesitate to show up and join in!!**

I have a conflicting event the same evening. Not sure if I can make it. I read some of the comments on Amazon.com. I think there should be a huge concern for unintended consequences and deliberate manipulation of products in ways that do not benefit human flourishing, such as Monsanto creating seeds for grain (including rice and corn) that become contractually mandatory that cannot be saved to replant crops because they do not germinate (called terminator seeds - forcing poor farmers into debt to buy more seed from Monsanto) OR they are toxic with cell generating insecticides. Beware of what you wish for. - Gary

Would like to go to the book club meetings but don't as my car overheats in all the nightly traffic driving to CFI.

Gary, I get yearly steroid injections for my neck, back and knee pain. Very helpful. But lost my doctor this year when the gov't forced me in to an HMO. The HMO denied my request for a pain specialist. So now I can't get my injection and my neck is killing me. You are not alone in your pain.

    GMO Wars: The Global Battlefield
    By Walden Bello | October 31, 2013

The Case Against GMOs Gains Strength

The case against GMOs has strengthened steadily over the last few years. Critics say that genetic engineering disrupts the precise sequence of a food’s genetic code and disturbs the functions of neighboring genes, which can give rise to potentially toxic or allergenic molecules or even alter the nutritional value of food produced. ... Patented GMO seeds concentrate power in the hands of a few biotech corporations and marginalize small farmers.

Anyone from Burbank going? My old car overheats in rush hour traffic. I can pay $2.00 for gas for a ride. Pick me up at the Burbank Central library at Olive & Glenoaks.
