Bring a snack and join other readers on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 PM for CFI-West's Book Club for Skeptics. Visitors welcome! Heck, you don't even have to have read the book to join in the conversation!

October's selection: BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS by Kurt Vonnegut

We should be in the upstairs meeting room, but if not, there will be a sign when you come in the door from the parking lot to guide you.

I may show up anyway. But a little late.
Now, don't you all run and hide...

Sorry, I will not be going tomorrow night. Vonnegut is sharp, pithy and witty, but after about 3 chapters it's just not holding my interest, even though I do like his philosophy about stuff. I think Felix Golubov (below) has a good question. Many years ago during the period of collective narcissism among liberals, the "human potential movement" (basically the post Freud psycho therapy movement) the point was made by a therapist, 100 years of therapy and nothing has changed. Same idea as Golubov, from a different angle.

Always admired V. novels, including this one. But now is time for skeptics to ask some questions. Significant parts of worldview of two generations of progressive intellectuals were shaped by V. novels. Since their time of writing world became much worse place (at least in many respects) with virtually no resistance from the same progressive intellectuals. Is there any connection to V. novels?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
