Santa Claus, Children and the Commercialization of Christmas: A Discussion
Wednesday, December 29 at 8 pm
Doors open at 7:30 pm
The "most wonderful time of the year" - as the song says about the Christmas season - also turns out to be the most stressful, commercial, and myth-promoting time of the year. How should secular people deal with the holidays? What should they tell their kids? Has it become too commercialized? These will be just a few of the questions posed to Cafe Inquiry attendees tomorrow night, Wednesday, Dec. 29.
Following video clips about the history of Christmas and Santa Claus, Bob Ladendorf, chief operating officer of the Center, will lead a discussion of these issues of the holiday season.
Cafe Inquiry is our monthly casual get-together where you can have a coffee and chat with other people on various topics of science. A guest speaker opens the discussion with a brief intro to the subject and then the floor is open. All are welcome!
Cafe Inquiry is a Science Cafe! Interested in being a speaker, or have one to recommend? Please contact us at (323)[masked], or email info[at]cfiwest.org.
