IIG’s Investigative Work Exposes Nursing Board’s Pseudoscience Courses
The Independent Investigations Group (IIG) is comprised of individual volunteers who, working in unison, helped to bring down a governmental body.
Brian Hart, one of the founders of IIG and a Steering Committee member, will show Café Inquiry attendees on Wed., July 28, how the IIG attempted to help the California Board of Registered Nurses (CBRN) overcome weaknesses in their course approval system. The IIG members were able to exploit these weaknesses and create a pseudoscience courseware that was approved by the board. But in the end, the CBRN considered the IIG its sworn enemy, and the entire board was eventually fired by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, representing grassroots skepticism at its best.
Brian has been the owner and president of the WPI computer networking consulting agency since 1985 and has worked as a sound recording engineer. A long-time investigator of paranormal claims, Brian presented a talk earlier this month at James Randi’s TAM conference in Las Vegas about the IIG investigation of the nursing board’s practices.
