I was raised a Lutheran in South Dakota. Boring would be a compliment to the services we had. When I came to Kansas City, I got to attend services at an African American church. I didn’t realize there were churches where people had FUN. Still don’t believe in it, but I can’t accuse them of lacking flair. . .

Subject: [skeptics-137] Bring back the Greek Gods
At times, when at I am at my worst due to suffering from the angst of modern alienation, I find myself wistfully harkening back to a sense of certainty that can be had from a belief in a god or gods. So From "Io9", the great science fiction site of Gawker Media, a tongue-in-cheek promotion to bring back the Greek Gods.
"Has anyone else noticed modern organized religion is kind of a bummer? Even if your divine belief system isn't violently persecuting another, it seems like you're still trapped in a church singing dirges all Sunday. Modern religion doesn't have any flair. This is why I'd like to offer a modest proposal: Let's bring back the ancient Greek gods. Yes, I mean Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares, the whole shebang — and here's why I think they'd make a significant improvement over our current options. "
