February 3 "Stop Local Deal-Making for Nuclear Weapons Parts: Vote!!"

Jane Stover and Rachel MacNair , Members of PeaceWorks KC

Kansas City is making history with the April 2 ballot measure to prevent further financial arrangements for producing non-nuiclear (but sometimes radioactive) parts for nuclear weapons.  Info and yard signs will be available.

February 10 "The Evolution of Flightlessness: A Three-Point Landing for the Origin of Flight," 3rd in the series

David A Burnham,  Ph.D., Paleontologist, Biodiversity Institute, University of Kansas  

We will discuss the dinosaur-like birds (bird-like dinosaurs), velociraptor and bambiraptor (discovered and named by Dr. Burnham).  


Luis Granados,  Author, Washington Attorney, contributed articles on the history of religion to Secular Nation, Free Inquiry and the Humanist 

Damned Good Company is a book of 20 stories of heroes around the world who stood up against the power of the God experts of their time and place. In honor of Darwin Day, Luis will share the story of the battles between Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan, culminating in their confrontation at the Scopes trial in Dayton, Tennessee.
