Gene and I went to the Secular Meal Serving with Micah Ministry which you can find more info on Facebook under Kansas City Atheist Coalition past events. It was held on Nov 25, 2013.  They serve meals every Monday. They are located in an older church located at 606 Gladstone Blvd.  Good well lit parking in their lot.  For those arriving later parking on street. If they have an adequate number of volunteers, they will open their clothing room and while the guests eat the volunteers get clothes or personal care products which the guest need  and request for them.  They accept clothing and personal care product donations. This give you motivation to go through your closet.  There is a larger crowd on the 4 or 5 Monday probably because the guests have used up their groceries.  Several different groups help out.  The shift was about two hours long.  Our group brought about 31. They had twelve rows of tables of guest. It seemed to me that each row had room for 40 people. The organizers were very appreciative of our help in spite of the fact that we were not believers. One person questioned Gene about evolution and if he believed in that. Gene said yes and asked that person how many dogs Noah had on the Ark.  His answer was two. Gene replied and look at how many breeds we have now...from Chiawawas to St Bernard's   That is evolution.

Jozef Hanratty or Josh Hyde can provide contact info.  You can message them through Facebook. Josef was in charge of this project.

Probably a lot of the KCAC would volunteer to help.

Today I stopped by a church and talked to the minister about working with their church members on community projects with atheists - blood drive, food collection, adopting a family for holidays, cleaning up a park, stream, helping out with fall leaf cleanup, etc.

The pastor will allow me or anyone else from our groups to come any time at sermons and distribute literature on any community projects to see if Christians from his church be willing to hang out with atheists for the Glory of God an betterment of humanity.

I'll be working on the flier outlining generic purposes of these activities - if any of you have any suggestions, upcoming projects you are involved in, please, let me know. I told him I'll e-mail it to him so he can review it and give me additional feedback if needed.

I don't know if I'll have this ready by Xmas, maybe I'll pop by their Christmas sermon this weekend or on Xmas day and pass fliers around before the sermon or after the sermon.

If anyone would like to volunteer for any projects, has some ideas, or would like help me out with passing fliers before the sermon or after, please, let me know. I may do it a couple of times a year at that church.
