The Association for Science and Reason (Skeptics Canada) Monthly Meetup

  • This location is shown only to members

Toronto Skeptics in the Pub Event:  Podcast host Karl Mamer will present "Jesus is a Venusian and other tall tales from the Toronto Aetherius Society." How does a UFO cult from the 1950s, whose central tenet is that there are intelligent civilizations on the moon, Venus and Mars, persist in this day and age? Host of the podcasts Ask a Canadian and the Conspiracy Skeptic, Mamer delves into the beliefs of this odd saucer religion and the supposed irrefutable evidence adherents claim sets the Aetherius Society apart from all those fake UFO cults. It should be a fun night.

We'll be at our usual venue, the Fox and Fiddle, just across from Wellesley Subway station. To find us, tell the wait staff you are looking for the Skeptics. We should be on the 3rd Floor.

The Association for Science and Reason (formerly Skeptics Canada) (www.scienceandreason.ca) has opened its regular monthly dinner to interested Meetup members, and it has been a lot of fun. Heated discussion, hot food, good company--a great way to spend the evening without losing I.Q. points.

As usual, don't be put off by the small number of people signing up through Meetup. Most of the regulars do not respond, they just show up. We typically have between 30 and 50 attendees.

I would like to attend, would be my first meetup. How do I find/recognize you guys in the pub? Is there a cost to the meeting, besides the food and drink? thanks!

Hi Borse, We are usually on the third floor (unless they screw up the resevations), and are the only ones on the third floor. We usually put up signs, and you can always ask the staff for the "skeptics". There is no charge for the meeting, but pass around a jar for contributions (pay what you want) - John

Hi, I don't have anything to say ... you're gonna decide for yourselves anyway.
