Human sacrifice. Murder. Rape. Mutilation. Cannibalism and suicide. Beneath Shakespeare’s first tragedy, the tale of an ancient Roman’s descent into madness, revenge and redemption, is the careful crafting of the master. With Titus Andronicus, Shakespeare questions the essence of sanity and explores humankind’s capacity for violence and spiritual purity. Join us for more than a dozen violent deaths and a lot of blood, gore, and adult themes. Good times!
Meet me in the lobby area around 5. Doors open/seating/dining begins at 5:15. I will go in then to get us a good spot. This show is General Admision seating, so I will try for the floor this time, or the box seats if there is more than four of us. Check in at the box office to pick up your ticket under Sky's the Limit and your name as it appears on the Meetup site. I have red hair and lots of freckles...you can't miss me. Tell the hostess you are sitting with "Sky's the Limit" when you enter the theater.
If this event fills up, I will try to add a few more seats, but the waiting list will have to pay as soon as they become available, so please do not join the waiting list unless you are committed to purchasing a ticket and attending.
The New American Shakespeare Tavern is unlike other theaters. It is a place out of time; a place of live music, hand-crafted period costumes, outrageous sword fights with the entire experience centered on the passion and poetry of the spoken word. With an authentic British Pub Menu and a broad selection of Irish ales, premium brews, and liquor, the Shakespeare Tavern is a place to eat, drink, and nourish the soul.
***You will need to pay for your own dinner that evening.***
PARKING: There is a parking deck across Peachtree Street from the tavern for Emory Crawford Long Hospital. It is only $4 with your ticket stub! It's safer than some of the surrounding surface lots and they take credit cards.
Saw it this past Sunday, and it was very well done. Definitely the most disturbing and gruesome play Shakespeare ever wrote. ASC last did this play 18 years ago, so if anyone is on the fence this may be the only time you'll be able to see this one for a very long time.
