Hi Lewis, Welcome to fly fishing. This time of year it is a good time to learn by reading, watching and maybe getting in a class or two. There are a few events coming up that will help you get started. Stay in contact and I hope to see you join in. To answer the question of what fly tying is...That is when we spend hundreds and thousand of dollars to 'save money' on buying flies and create them ourselves! It's pretty cool, I just got done making some poppers for the summer.
