Pookie’s will be hosting its’ 4th annual fundraiser and adoption day to benefit local non-profit animal rescue groups on January 28th, 2012. Animals being abandoned and turned in to local shelters continue to be at an all-time high due to current economic conditions and this event seeks to increase awareness and promote adoption of homeless pets. Last year’s event featured 21 breed specific and other local rescue groups with over 40 dogs and cats getting forever homes. The event raised over $8,500 that was distributed equally to the participating rescues.
This year’s event will showcase 30 rescue groups with their adoptable dogs and cats.
We are excited to announce that we will be moving the event to Lake Lily Park and the Maitland Civic
Center this year due to the growth of the event over the past three years. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is a fun, festival type atmosphere and proceeds from raffled gift baskets and grab bags and donations will be distributed to the participating rescue groups. Various pet services including pet trainers, pet sitters, pet communicators, pet boarding and veterinary services will be on site to provide information. Music/entertainment options for adults and children. Natural foods and supplements company representatives will also be available to share educational information on pet nutrition and several will raffle off a free year of dog and/or cat food. If you have attended this event in the past, you know how many great raffle items we get and all for a great cause! Mark the date on your calendar and consider adopting an animal in need.
