Newell did a great job as project-manager for Gloria, Lily, and May's birthday blast at Grand Villa recently (see photos.) There were lei's, palm frond skirts, coconut shell bra's autographing, and inflatable palm trees, and a great birthday cake – matched by the warm temperatures in the dance floor. (Which made us wonder if Grand Villa was trying to get us to buy coolers.)
Let's have another party, for Anna Banana, this time! The new #1 band, Groove & Tonic, will make the dancefloor go “ape” in their second set. This is a 7-piece band with excellent trumpet and sax performance, unmatched by any band.
Where did you likely meet Anna? Perhaps at a hundreds meetups, including Marie's karaoke, Libby's dances at Best Western, concerts in North Van, dance lessons on Granville Street or Robson Square.
Who's invited: Everybody
If you know anybody else who is celebrating a mid-September birthday, add him/her to this party, via comments.
Rob's review of Groove & Tonic: They play 3 sets, each set catering to a different audience, but all really danceable. With wireless gear, they jump right into the dancefloor and even around the lounge, playing all the while. One or more musician friends opine that Groove & Tonic is better than the famous cover-band, March Hare --- which we also enjoyed at several meetups.
