Knowledge over Mochas

Knowledge is power !  .... but only after I've had my morning coffee.

Come learn something new in a relaxed environment with your favourite hot beverage.  In this semi-regular event, we're putting the spotlight on one volunteer from the group to teach us a little about a subject of their expertise.  No lectures, no tests - just a friendly chit-chat with knowledgeable friends.  :)

This week:

Mirages, Music, Marigolds, Mussels, and Massages

Subject:  Come join a stimulating informal discussion social on our human ability to sense and perceive the environment around us.  The discussion leader will bring her background in medicine to enhance the talk and hopefully answer some questions!  Let's get together over coffee, food, music, and handshakes - let's learn something new and make some new friends!

Expert: Deepti Damaraju - medical doctor

Come on down and ask some questions. If after a while you decide the subject isn't your "cup of tea" then order a Pepsi and talk about the news instead!

Call for experts for future discussions:
If everyone is good at something, then everyone has some knowledge that they can share!  If being smart is sexy then why not lead the conversation for an evening?  It is okay to use the term "expert" loosely; we are just talking over drinks.

I had a good time chatting and getting to know other people as well as delve into an interesting topic.

I appreciated the convenient location and low cost activity. As a smart person (I presume) I was interested to see if any conflict would arise between the co-occurring states of being single and being smart. There was a bit of friction between those two simultaneous conditions, which was fascinating from a social-political-psuedointellectual point of view.

Had a great time meeting new people last night. Some brilliant and highly social, some not as social, but overall good folks.

I look forward to being in a room full of smart people. If it's not too much trouble, could everyone be extra smart tonight? That would benefit me and there probably is some incentive for you as well. I do not know what that incentive is, but I'm sure you could figure it out if you wanted to, because you are smart.

Would love to come. Have class that night. Certainly hope to join in another time... on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday night perhaps.

The Knowledge over Mocha events are planned for whatever day works for that night's expert (and myself as the event organizer). The day of the events have and will jump around so that hopefully everyone gets a chance to go some if they so desire. The easiest way to make sure that you can attend is to volunteer to be an expert ! ;)

Sure... I was thinking I could do that. But I'd like to come as a guest to a couple first, to familiarize myself with the format.

I'd be interested to be the expert speaker in January--my specialty is hypnotherapy as well as applying understanding of the subconscious to goal setting.

Where I lived before I tried to organize a lunch and learn group where a topic would be picked, each attendee would research it, then as a group we would go to that location, resorce. Then go to eat and discuss what we learned. I love lectures, experiments and new things. I live in Bellingham.

Hey guys, I'm super sorry I have been unable to attend so many great events! Since I have been working evenings, there have been many schedule conflicts. I would love to meet some of you!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
