LA MARATHON TRAINING - 20 MILES

LA Marathon trainees,

Good to see many of you racing at the Surf City Marathon and Half last Sunday.  I had a great time pacing the 2 hour crowd.

The time has come and there is no other way around it!  but running 20 miles is not so bad.  You just have to prepare your mind and body and fortunately we are all ready and prepared.

Here is the plan, to help those runners who have young children at home, I decided to keep the 20 mile run locally.

Meet at 6:05am at Courthouse (6:05am so when we return after 6 miles we do not have to wait much)

6:05am – Run 6 miles round trip towards the Lake (3 miles) and back to Courthouse.

7:05am – Meet the Club.  We will plan to run 14 miles via 2 parks Craig and Tri City, on the way back, do not run the Summit House trail, instead just go down Bastanchury and back to the golf course trails.

REMINDER: Bring gatorade or other energy drink you are accustomed to, bring few energy bars or gels or whatever food that works for you but you need to eat something along the way to keep your energy  running 20 miles, otherwise you will feel worn out.

See you there!

I'm concerned about muddy, slippery downhills. It's street running for me today (8 mi).

Keven, I thought about it too but since the rain wasn't that heavy, the trails shouldn't be not muddy. See you tomorrow at 6am

Any thoughts due to the possibility of muddy trails tomorrow?
