Tribal Drumming

What does it involve?  Well we sit around in a circle with various African drums (provided by the teacher, Tom) and Tom shows us a number of different tribal drumming beats. After we get the hang of the new beats we are split up into groups each playing one of the different beats. Once we are all in harmony, the lights go out and we drum for another 30 or 40 minutes getting totally lost in the rhythm. Its only the craic!  Sometimes if there a few of us, we go around the corner to wind down over a cuppa tea/coffee. Its a great way to spend a Friday night and gets your mind off the week and sets you nicely up for the weekend.

As it organised by a separate company, Tom charges 10euro if you are not working, otherwise its 12euro. If you cant afford this, come along anyway as Tom is happy to do concessions if you help with the setting up, packing away of the drums.

EXCELLENT! Tom the teacher is great, the experience is so much fun and what a way to de-stress after a week at work. Can't wait to go back :)

Get to Synge Street, the Lantern Centre is on the corner of Synge Street and Harrington Street. There is a school on Synge Street. Between the school and the Lantern Cente there is a car park. Drive into the car park. Drumming circle is second door on the left as you drive in the car park.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
