NOTE: See Beginners: Intro to Climbing Classes II (OUTDOOR LESSONS) The best way to get started in rock climbing is to take an Intro to Climbing class that teaches you how to belay safely. Once you know how to belay (and have shoes, harness, a large HMS locking carabiner, belay device, and chalk bag) it will be more likely that other climbers will want to take you climbing with them outdoors.
