Meetup Description: We are joining Los Angeles Compassionate Heart Sangha for their weekly practice. Here is what we will be doing:
Try to arrive by 10:55 so you can get a seat or set out your cushion. Everyone who wants to meditate on a cushion brings their own yoga mat or blanket and cushion. If you would prefer to meditate in a chair there are plenty of chairs available, and it is an excellent choice if this is your first time. This is a special Sunday where we are going to do a total relaxation meditation where you lie down on your back and relax your whole body. I would strongly recommend bringing a yoga mat, or blanket for this exercise, as it will be more comfortable. If you have an extra one for someone who might forget there own... you can practice being a a bodhisattva by lending them your extra! Our meditation hall can be chilly, so please bring whatever you need to be comfortable.
If you arrive late and the door is shut, you are invited to enjoy sitting or walking meditation outside, until the bell is rung and we transition to the next phase of practice.
11:00am 20 minutes of silent sitting meditation
11:20 20 minutes of walking meditation
11:40 20 minutes of total relaxation... guided meditation on CD
12:00 5 minute break
12:05 5 minute Intoduction to exercise on awareness of our conditions for happiness
12:10 15 minutes writing where we explore and list all the conditions for happiness in our lives right now
12:30 30 minutes of Dharma Discussion where people share from their heart the insights about their practice or the exercises from the day, and we practice deep listening to those who are sharing.
1:00 The regular Sangha will close and the meet up folks who have questions or want to talk about their experience together will chat informally for 15 minutes.
