The book and film are about the wild adventure of a boy named Max who is sent to his room without his supper by his mother as punishment for talking back. Max wears a distinctive wolf suit during his adventures and encounters various mythical creatures, the "wild things". Although just ten sentences long, the book is generally regarded as a masterpiece of American illustrated children's literature. Cast: Catherine Keener, Max Records, Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, Forest Whitaker MPAA Rating: PG - for mild thematic elements, some adventure action and brief language Run time: 1 hr. 34 mins Please use my contact information if you're running late, lost or change in plans. Please join us immediately after the movie at Buca di Beppo for a wild time of laughter, chat and eats. Stay tuned for details.

This film is DEFINITELY on the eclectic side of the house. I think this film will show very well with adults and may be too mature for little ones despite its' PG-rating. There were a lot of parallels between Max in the real vs. escapism worlds. He discovered that no family is perfect and even though you may initially fit in, there are things that a person and others close to that person may act on that will cause isolation and hurt feelings. Jonze did an excellent job with the characters and storyline. Those who missed out on seeing this movie with us, missed out on a Where The Wild Things Are "special" gift donated by one of our assistant organizers, Charles. This was Charles' second time seeing this film. My daughter and I enjoyed the film and the soundtrack. We had a brief movie chat in the theatre as Charles had other plans. I walked over to Buca di Beppo after the movie. This is one of the better films of 2009. Sorry, Kate that we didn't get a chance to meet you.

Well, I got to the movie and got my ticket but I couldn't find the group! And the lady at Buca di Beppo was less than helpful. Ah well, at least the movie was good!

Director Spike Jonze has posted a contest on his blog. The ?Where the Wild Things Ought to Be? contest, as it is called, asks that contestants take an existing WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE photo, clip, artwork, etc. and put it into anything that could use some ?wilding up.?

You can enter the contest HERE -, and also check out some different ideas for your entry.
