Brunch & a Movie - "Love Hurts" & Ye Olde Kings Head

Update: Noon - Brunch at Ye Olde Kings Head 1:50 pm - We will leave the restaurant. 2:20 pm - Show time After the movie around 4:40 pm - Tea at Tudor House (this is just tea and maybe some scones. Not a full afternoon tea menu). I wanted to see a romantic comedy with a twist for some time, and I think I found a winner. "Love Hurts" is a British romantic comedy which has been getting buzz in festival circles this year. It's a story about the first love and the ever-lasting love. It's a story about a new beginning and the ending. It goes like this - A wife leaves a good husband. The husband is dumb-struck and heart-broken. Then, the son does a make-over on the father (the husband), and he becomes the most eligible bachelor in town. Meanwhile, the son falls in love for the first time. The wife is in the arms of a new man. The husband? Despite of all the attentions, all he wants is to get his wife back... ahh, the agony of unattainable love. Will the husband get his wife back? Will the son's first love turn into an ever-lasting love? Well, you will just have to join me next Saturday to find out :-) Since this is set in England, I thought why not complete this with an old-fashioned English Breakfast at Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica. You can have their infamous fish and chips instead if you like. If you have never been to Ye Olde Kings Head in Santa Monica, you don't know what you have been missing. It's a real cool place. So, let's pretend that we are in England. Let's eat some English pub food, watch a English movie, and afterwards...? How did you know? Yes, we will have some tea... O.K. maybe with some scones. The movie will be shown at Laemmle's Monica 4 Plex. Theater, restaurant and the tea house are all within walking distance - less than 5 minutes. Kay

There was a mix-up at the restaurant. There was a table reserved for 10 which was waiting inside right in front of the fireplace, but the bouncer was telling people there was no reservation. Most members found me and we had a great time at the brunch, movie and the afternoon tea at The Tudor House. Lively conversations. The movie started at 2:20 pm as planned at Monica 4-Plex. I know some members could not find me and left. I am sorry about the mix-up. Please call me on my cell in the future if there are any problems. I do not access my E-Mails on weekends since I get about 100+ E-Mails a day due to my work and I try to turn everything off on weekends, except my cell phone.

There was not brunch or movie. After paying $6 to park I went to the pub to find a) no meet up people there and b) the Kings Head was having a "pay perview" event and the entire pub was filled with loud sports fans watching a soccor game. I e-mailed the administrator to let her know that I was there. Then, I went to buy a ticket for the 2:30pm film "Love Hurts." Well, the film was not screening until 7:00pm tonight. While I was standing at the film festival ticket table I did run into another meetup member who had driven from the South Bay area to attend the brunch and film. At the very least the meetup organizer should have remained at the Kings Head pub and let everyone know what had happend and maybe we all could have at least had lunch together or something. My heart goes out to the woman that drove so far for this event.
