With the Mayan calendar ending in 2012, is there any truth to a large group of people dealing with natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, typhoons and glaciers? Please allow yourself enough time to get to the theatre and purchase your ticket for the 7:15 pm showtime using your MovieWatcher membership before our 6:30 pm meetup time. You and your party must be present with the group when they let us into the theatre in order to sit with the group. ABSOLUTELY NO SEATS WILL BE SAVED FOR LATECOMERS!
CALLING ALL SAN GABRIEL VALLEY ACTION | DRAMA | SCI-FI | THRILLER FANATICS!
Greetings, please join BustAGroove for an end of days flick which is expected to be one of this year's blockbusters - 2012.
Premise: Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. "2012" is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
Trivia: The title refers to the end-date of the Mayan calendar, a Meso-American civilization whose dating system comes to an end in the year AD 2012. Though the calendar itself contains no such information, popular culture and certain religions prophesy an apocalyptic event at this date.
The teaser trailer uses the exact same ambient music score from the trailer to The Shining (1980).
Cast: John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, Woody Harrelson
Movie Rating: PG-13 (for intense disaster sequences and some language)
Run Time: 2 hrs. 38 mins.
I'll see you at the movies. Good Flicks, Action and People!!!
Do your eyes sparkle whenever you hear the phrase Coming Soon To A Theatre Near You?
Do you still love GOING to the movies instead of downloading them on your computer?
Do you get a rush at the scent of FRESHLY POPPED BUTTERED POPCORN while standing in the lobby of your favorite theatre?
Do you get into intense debates about the symbolism of Fight Club, the endings of Inception & No Country For Old Men or whether Quentin Tarantino is a visionary filmmaker or a hack?
Did you answer YES to any - or all - of those questions? Then you need to join us here at SOCAL MOVIE FANATICS!
Since 2006, SoCal Movie Fanatics (SCMF) has been Meetup's prime destination for big screen excitement in the Los Angeles area! While other folks & groups talk about watching movies on their computers, tablets & iPads, SCMF is dedicated to the beloved pastime of GOING TO THE MOVIES!
Every week we gather movie lovers across SoCal to the biggest & best theatres in town to see the latest and greatest films from Hollywood.Big screens, big sound, IMAX,&reserved seating are par for the course in our group - although we do make time to catch the latest from the indie/arthouse scene as well.
NOTE:We are not a free movie screening club. If you're looking for a hookup for free advance screenings, this is not the group for you.
Our Calendar is jumping with movie outings going on across the city! You'll see some great flicks. You'll eat some good food (we always go out to eat before/after the movie). You'll make some great new friends! Sure beats sitting at home alone on a Saturday night streaming Netflix or Amazon Instant by yourself! :)
