SoCal Piggies Hack Night March 2013

This will be a weeknight event where Python developers of all types get together and hack on their projects. It's not a workshop or a class, just a chance to hang out with a lot of cool people and build cool things.

While this is hosted by SoCal Python, feel free to work on other things technical besides Python, including Javascript, Node.js, Ruby, Scala, Lisp, PHP, Clojure, serving cupcukes, Perl, or anything else that comes to mind!

Awesome night! Connected with a few new (to me) and very cool developers! Well stocked with pizza and soda from Netlandish.com, and a fantastic facilities provided by Cross Campus. A great evening for working on my project alongside real experts! Thank you everyone!

I was a computer science major in another life (LONG ago). However, I haven't seriously programmed anything in 20 years. However, I'd like to think I have the aptitude for it. Do you all recommend Python Programming for the absolute beginner, or is there another book you all recommend I start with? Thanks, Chris.

Christopher... There are tons of great resources for learning Python. I'm particularly fond of "Learn Python the Hard Way" by Zed Shaw. C'mon down to the Hack Night and we'll get you started.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will have to take a look at it. Santa Monica is a little far from me (I'm in Glendale) but maybe another meetup!

Hey, SoCal Python enthusiasts! Finally...you've got a regular opportunity to really hack on your project alongside other Pythonistas like yourself! Dig into the language, work on honing your craft, and enjoy the support of other like-minded developers. These events have less cruft, and more code! I'm super excited we're doing 'em, and looking forward to seeing you there! So, once the date and venue is set...press that RSVP button!

Interesting. My updated "RSVP Comment" was magically transformed into a "conversation" post. Anyway. I'm excited.

This isn't a pitch event. Instead, its a chance to work on projects big and small in a room filled with other developers. Bring your own project or work on someone else's project. :-)

Not sure if anyone else is pitching/proposing ideas. Will most likely be playing around with Flask + Angular.js or something a bit more mathemagical (OpenCV/Pandas).

Turns out I'm traveling back east for work. Sad to have to miss this! :(

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
